Thank you Regina Taggart of Cancer Linc and Freda Wilkins, MSW, M. DIV, of Massey Cancer Center, VCU for your

very informative presentation and support to the community. Regina offered helpful information from Cancer Linc

and the services they offer in the community to help link cancer patients and their families to legal and financial

resources, for more information please contact them at 804-272-5462. Freda Wilkins offered us the wonderful gift of

Caring for the Caregiver, she showed us how important it is for caregivers to take care of themselves and offered us

some valuable self care and relaxation techniques that were beneficial to all of those who were present.

Crater Community Hospice Kicks Off the Holiday Season with a Bus Trip to the Illuminate Light Show

On December 14th, Crater Community Hospice kicked off the Holidays with a trip to the Illuminate Light Show at Meadow Event Park in Doswell. The deluxe motor coach was reserved through Winn Transportation and allowed us to ride in style through the beautiful show.

Fifty-five people joined us for the trip. Crater Community Hospice used this trip as a fundraiser and “the profits will benefit our respite program,” said Tracy Taliaferro, Crater Community Hospice CEO.

The riders thanked us for the opportunity to see the light show and for arranging the trip. Everyone had a great time and several asked if this would be an annual event!

Thank you to all of those who joined us for this wonderful and festive event and who helped to raise awareness and funds to support our respite program!

Thank you,  Bill Humphreys for your wonderful presentation and for leading our October Coffee Chat discussion for Caregivers. We had our largest group ever and Bill provided us with valuable tips and resources to help those who are acting as advocates and caregivers for a loved one and also for those who work as professional caregivers. Bill also reminded us to take care of ourselves if we are in either of these roles and provided valuable self care techniques and coping skills. Please feel free to contact our office at 526-4300 if you would like to schedule a similar conversation at your church, civic group or place of business.
