Caregiver and Bereavement Support
Caregiver Support
While Crater Community Hospice provides medical care to patients, we are also dedicated to providing support for family caregivers. Caregiver resources are available online and in our library. Our volunteers support the family caregiver by providing hourly respite care, assistance with household chores, running errands, and just being a friend.
We also provide a free monthly e-newsletter with tips and resources for caregivers. Sign up here.

Bereavement Support
Crater Community Hospice offers Bereavement Support Groups and Workshops throughout the year at various locations within our service areas. Our Bereavement services are free of charge and open to the public. Bereavement care is also made available to Long-Term Care Facilities, Churches and other organizations. Refer to our Community Calendar for upcoming programs.
Grief support groups offer opportunities for bereaved persons to explore their grief while sharing with others who are experiencing similar losses. Our small groups are free of charge and open to adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Registration is required before attending our groups.
Our Bereavement team works with the hospice families we serve offering a variety of resources for bereavement care and support for up to 13 months following the loss of their loved one. Through telephone contact and the provision of specialized newsletters containing helpful information and insight from experts in the field of grief and bereavement issues, grieving family members receive needed solace and support.
Our Library
Our library is a resource for patients and families we serve seeking information about caregiving, spiritual support, hospice care, bereavement, and other end of life issues. Our library is located in our office at 3916 South Crater Road, Petersburg and is open during business hours, Monday through Friday.
